Artist ‘Nick’ doing his part to help Opportunity Enterprises

Jodi and I are always honored when asked to photograph events throughout the region.  It allows us to support local companies and nonprofits in our community.  We captured event memories for Opportunity Enterprises, a Valparaiso based nonprofit.  ‘Founded in 1967, Opportunity Enterprises is a non-profit organization that strives to help individuals with developmental disabilities reach their fullest potential and live a full, enriching life.’

The event was their annual fundraising gala held this year at the Blue Chip Casino Event Center.  They celebrated 50 years of service to the community and 25 years of the gala.

This is Nick – an Opportunity Enterprises client.  He was busy putting the finishing touches on his painting that was to be auctioned off during the live auction event planned for later that evening.  Nick is a great and funny guy. The entire time he was painting, he was also explaining that the he has been working on it every Tuesday for the past few weeks during art class with Jessica, his OE teacher.

Nick was hoping for a $2,000 bidder for his painting of boats on the water!  He was so pleased to see it go for much more than that.  As the excitement began, the bidding went up and up and Nick was beside himself to see his painting go for $4,500 to Mr. and Mrs. Rick Rondinelli of Valparaiso.

The event was a great success raising over $300,000 for the organization.  Congratulations to artist Nick for his great work and for providing OE with a wonderful donation created from his art.  Enjoy the slideshow we produced with some of the evening highlights.
