On Thursday, May 3, 2018 Chancellor William J. Lowe & Dr. Patrick Bankston unveiled the notice of renaming of room 2024 at the Indiana University School of Medicine in honor of Dr. Clarence Boone. With remarks given to a full room of supporters and loved ones, Chancellor Lowe welcomed everyone to the special ceremony and reception. Other remarks were given by dr. Bankston, Representative Charlie Brown, Mayor Karen Freeman-Wilson, Dr. Steve Simpson, Clarence Boone, Jr., and Dr. Clarence Boone.
IU Medical students also attended all wearing their ‘white’ lab coats while attentively listening to all of the guest speakers who praised Dr. Boone for his life of service, his giving of his time, talent, and treasure to enrich and advance the lives of all those who call Northwest Indiana home.
Dr. Boone is a co-founder and former national president of the Neal-Marshall Alumni Club. He has served as a member of the IU Board of Trustees, chairman of the IU Alumni Association, member of the IU Northwest Chancellor’s Cabinet and member of the IU Foundation Board of Directors.
After a long and distinguished career as a physician in Northwest Indiana, he retired in 1999. The ceremony was to recognize and celebrate Dr. Boone’s legacy and commitment to medical education, the Northwest Indiana community and all of Indiana University.
It was my honor to capture the event’s memories for IU (I’m an alum), the School of Medicine, and Dr. Boone’s family. See additional images from the day at this gallery link: https://bellaphotographs.smugmug.com/Events/Dr-Clarence-Boone-Room-Dedication/
