How Photography can Help or Hurt Your Small Business

Last week, I was honored to participate in the Mastering Local Marketing podcast with Matt Hanson and Jim Dedelow. Jim owns WJOB & JEDtv on AM 1230 and FM 104.7 radio. The podcast is a year-long commitment by Matt Hanson to provide valuable information and actionable insights, interview leading experts and business owners in various industries, and offer tips and tricks they have uncovered over the last 25 years in the field.

The goal is to provide business owners with the education and resources needed to grow their customer base.

Matthew Hanson, MBA, is the Executive Director for Graduate and External Programs and the Clinical Associate Professor of Marketing at Purdue University Northwest. He is a digital marketing education leader committed to preparing students with practical, hands-on experience.

Fellow business owner and associate Chris Barbauld of the Barbauld Agency was on the podcast a couple of weeks ago discussing the Warning Signs When Shopping for a Website (click the title to view the video) and mentioned me to Matt since having good imagery on a website, no matter what your business, is essential, critical really!

I had a blast meeting Hanson and Dedelow, and I was fascinated by the radio station inside the Purdue Calumet Commercialization Center on Indianapolis Blvd in Hammond. My task was to discuss the importance of high-quality photographs to promote small businesses, the most significant mistakes business owners make, and how poor photography can hurt a brand or customer’s perceptions.

Check out the podcast video below for insightful conversations about this critical topic.
